Solvatten:Safe water through solar technology
More than a billion people in the world have no access to clean water or electricity, and this has a negative impact on both people’s health and the environment where they live.
But thanks to an innovation by the Swedish foundation Solvatten, the Solar water purifier, access to clean water is no longer an issue for many of them.
Solvatten can eliminate all pathogenic material in 10-litres of water within 2 hours with sufficient sunlight to meet the World Health Organization’s (WHO) highest level of quality for drinking water. The filtrated water is suitable for drinking and cooking as well as household, hygiene and sanitary needs. Diarrhoea diseases as well as eye and skin infections have been significantly reduced making the Solvatten project a major factor in strengthening families and communities and preventing life-threatening diseases.
VIMEC & SOLVATTEN
Since last year, Vimec has started supporting this foundation. With Vimec and Latour Group support support, the foundation provided 3288 Solvatten and reached approximately 18 000 people living without safe and hot water at home.
Solvatten shows the way to a sustainable future for everyone and positively contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
